Re: 305 To 350 Question

welcome to tgo, to answer your question, any gm motor will fit, for the clean drops the 350's are pretty simple, make sure when you do the swap thogh, you get the ECU and wiring harness with the motor or it will be a nightmare. Additionally most of your accessories on your 305 will swap directly to your 350 like your water pump etc. Now all you need to do is find the engine and have at it.

Just a side note being new to TGO you might want to use the search feature before you post a new thread or you will get alot of greif if the topic has been run through before

Not true. The '82 LG4 system will handle a 350 just fine.

What won't be very good are the exhaust and air cleaner. The carb and exhaust forums discuss that regularly. You may benefit from a minor carb modification, read the sticky at the top of the Carburetor forum about "welcome to the carb forum". There are links with good info in there.

He has the right motor mounts already. As long as you're not talking about Gen III LSx-type engines.

Re: 305 To 350 Question

Ok so I've got a buddy with a 350ci out of a 79 Z28 will that bolt up?

and if so does that mean the only thing I have to do is drop the motor in?

I figured at this point since I have the thread up I might as well ask.... :]

A '79 engine will have the dipstick on the driver's side. Stock '82 manifolds get in the way of the driver's side dipstick tube. You either have to do careful bending, get a flexible dipstick tube (like from Lokar), or given the horrible nature of stock exhaust (including the manifolds) get headers and the dipstick will route between the tubes.

Downside to a '79 350 is the stock factory heads are better doorstops or boat anchors than a means of power production.
