91 305 TBI to 88 TPI help
Im looking at swapping my 305 TBI in my 91 camaro to a 88 TPI I have kicken around in my garage. So I have been reading lots on here but just want to make sure I do it right the first time.
The 88 TPI is a MAF setup so im going to leave it that way not doing any huge modifications. I already built a 350 and mounted the TPI intake on it. From what I understand I need to change the computer which I have from the 88 car and wireing harness and change the knock sensor. when I do this how will it affect my vats system I currently have? do i need to disable it, if so how do i do that? I was going to use the 19lb injectors and cranck up the fuel pressure - its what a friend of mine said to do but I dont like that idea I would rather get the new 24lb injectors.
I will have to change the knock sensor to a 350 knock sensor no big deal, is there anything else I should be aware of before doing this? The car is automatic and the ECM I got from the 88 is from an auto car too. There is nuthing too radical about the 350 it has a 455 lift cam int/exh and a 112 lsa. I was basically wanting a mild manner motor for my sunday driven camaro.
I was going to use the TPI setup in my other camaro but I changed my mind and am going to build a LSX motor and go that route with it. I just wanted to use the 350 TPI because I spent around 2k building it and having the heads done.
Any input on this would be appreaciated, im not looking to make my own chip or anything like that, I have read too many horror stories trying to tune and re-burn 'em I just dont want the headach with it. sorry for the long post.
