my 305 non fuel injection
all my freinds are saying i should go to the junkyard and get a fuel injected v8 350 instead of my 305 carborated.... could i just keep what i have and still get a fast car out of the 305???i really want a bad *** car but i kinda dont wanna go through the trouble of a engine swap...couldnt i just beef my 305 up??

You can add stuff to your 305 that could be swaped to a 350 latter on. But fi has its good side you could have a 400hp car and still get 18-20 mpg. I think that would be hard with a carb. But a 305 wont make the power as a 350.

Get a after market carb and intake , some headers and exhaust, lower gears and a posi, maybe a cam and go from there thats what I did and mine goes pretty good for a 305. It actually runs better than a few 350s I've had.

ok thanks how much would all that be around and i heard mine doesnt have headers it just has a manifold???sorry im new too cars

If you start with the headers, exhaust and gears.... you may just get a little power hungry and go for the 350. It is an easy swap if you stay with a carb, and the other mods it will keep you happy in the meantime. I love my 350, but at about 12mpg in the city with these gas prices it makes me wish I had my 305 still. Both have advantages.
