305 TBI to TPI

A buddy of mine has a KITT car in which he added a ton of weight by doing so and also has a lot of stereo equipment in it because he brings it to sound competetions. It is a 1990 firebird formula with a 305 TBI he doesnt want to make the thing a fast car by any means he just want it to get out of its own way. I have a TPI system from my 305 I took out of my car a while ago. Would there be any problems with converting his TBI to TPI to get that torque that TPI's make? Would it be worth it? how much is there to gain with this swap? He is also lookign at putting the larger aftermarket runners on for extra gains as well. Will my wire harness and computer from my TPI connect up easily with no probelms? Thanks for all the help guys.

TBI and TPI both suck.... First and for most your mixing 2 things together that really suck the TBI has shitty cam and heads to begain with and TPI heads arent much better.... TPI has a long runner! just try sucking in air why your already underwater doesn't work to well.... basically you'll be going more backwards then forwards then anything

Re: 305 TBI to TPI

If you have the stuff I would change in in a heart beat. Fueledsoul may be right in saying TBI heads are crap BUT TPI is better than TBI any day of the week. My 89 RS was TBI and I changed it over to TPI and it was a lot more fun to play with.

If you have the ecm, wiring harness and intake, the only other thing would be a fuel pump because TPI takes more fuel pressure than TBI. I took everything from a wrecked TPI car and plugged right up to my RS car.
