Re: 4.3vtec
I've looked that over more than a few times. Versions of the 4.3 make as much power and torque as the 305 at similar rpm. There's a good amount of aftermarket too.

Re: 4.3vtec
I REALLY want to do this swap one day. Albeit for a drift car project I have in mind. Hopped up 4.3 with a T-5, 4.10's and a detroit true-tac. I have read a couple posts here and if you are doing it for mileage some say don't bother but I think that it would be a pretty cool swap.

Re: 4.3vtec
honestly most people will tell you to stay away from this swap because your going from a 60degree v6 to a 90degree. but i wanted to pull this one off because a 4.3 is basicly a 350 with two less cylinders which means most of the 350 hardware will work with the 4.3 and there is alot more parts available for this engine oposed to the 2.8 v6 the only problem with this swap is that your going to have to get a new ecm to run the engine correctly...unless your going carbed. but i wanted to do a twin turbo 4.3 setup that would be some ***** to the wall power under the hood. like the sycloon or typhoon who only have one turbo thoes were some mean cars...but yea if you got the parts, the time, the money, and enough patience power to you go for it

Re: 4.3vtec
Well I'll post pic's as I go. It shouldn't be that hard. I've put the IROC TPI 350 in my last yota. I've put the 4.3 in my crawler (all tube buggy) and had about 400hp. I'm building my own 87 SS. I want to do it cause no one has done it. I have the 4.3,now all I need is the paxton super charger. Got a in at NAPA . I'll do all the design and my bro does all my welding. New to camaro's but needed a brake from working on my 70 nova SS. Any Info on this will be taking in. Thanks.

Re: 4.3vtec
It shouldn't be that hard.I got the whole s10 flipped for 700. Not sure how much they go for on the east coast. Don't find them in the wrecking yard out here cause all the rock crawling guys snag them up. I still go on the BBD's so I'll get help from them too. I'll post pic's of the car . I pick it up for 650 and I drive it every day. That the cool part of living on a Island with a navy base on it. When the get transfered to another base they sell stuff cheap. Need to find a front stock 87 IROC wheel have a broken one. This project will be a fun one. This time I can enjoy it on the pavement not out in the woods on trails.

Re: 4.3vtec
I've done the swap. It's not that difficult. If you start with a V8 car, then everything from the transmission back stays the same. I personally mounted the 4.3 to the already mounted V8 T5. I put the V8 motor block mounts on the 4.3 and redrilled the V8 frame mounts where the engine wanted to be on the crossmember...taking into regard the need to keep the motor in the middle of the engine compartment. Is your 4.3 a two piece main seal or a one piece? Which ever it is, you must have the correct flywheel which will be the same as a V8's. I used a set of old V6 van factory headers but if I had to do it again, I would try to adapt s-10 full length headers. I used a set of Bell Tech lowering springs for a V8 S-10 swap (S-10, G-Body and 3rd Gen F cars share the same spring configuration...just have to find the correct rate for your application). Mine was carbed with the newer style Vortec heads and an Edelbrock Performer Vortec Manifold. The car was never emissions legal...which is what ultimately kept me from keeping the car. Plus I never guessed gas would get to $4.00 a freakin' gallon. I had a 4:10 posi rear which kept the little motor in it's power band very easily. With the T5, I got about 27 highway and 21 city....if I could keep from driving hard. I had the full Spohn/Global West handling parts and the thing handled like a dream. All the V8 accessory V-belt stuff bolted straight on. I bought some Bow-tie aluminum 2.02 heads with the matching two piece intake but never got the chance to use them.

Re: 4.3vtec
Well the motor should be coming out of the s-10 this weekend. It will be a little bit befor it goes in. I want to do all the suspension firt then do the motor. Talking with Art Morrison about building a whole new sub frame. I had them do a whole frame for my 70 Nova SS. The rear end I might go with his fab9. He said he can make it it so the pan hard bar with go on still. but I like his 4link set up better. Will post pic's as we go.
