87 IROC Build Thread

Ok, just picked up a 87 IROC. It's not the prettiest thing on the road, but I got it for free and am not gonna complain.

To my amazement, this car is FULLY LOADED. I dont think there is an option it does not have (minus the 1LE package, which not sure was even avail on an 87???) I talking power seats, auto dimming mirror with lights, overhead console, 140 speedo, tach w/actual sweep gauges and posi disc rear!!!

I got the car w/o motor and trans, but have a very nicely built 355 and TH350 going in very soon ( I will also doc the motor build)

I'm very excited and not too sure which way to take the car, either straight out drag car and just remove the interior, or do a resto on it?

I already have a Moser 12 bolt and full UMI suspension ready to go in, plus a nice set of drag lites as always.

I will update as things go with MANY MANY PICS, here's some I just snapped after unloading it in the garage.

Yes. I would go the mostly stock appearing route, doesn't look like it would need much work to look great. Even the stock leather steering wheel looks good.

Car is in good shape, rust free body, underneath is super solid, and interior is very nice. I'm not sure I got the patience to do this build though, the more I look at it, the more I dont want to hack it up into a race car like I wanted to do. I got a 600hp motor/trans combo looking to go somewhere LOL!!

Maybe I will just sell it and let someone take the time to do it right?
