LT1 heads, cam, intake swap on a '90 305
I have a 1990 Camaro RS with a 305 TBIand a 700R4. I want to swap in an LT1 intake, heads, and cam on it. Also I may put headers on it. I know my motor comes from the factory with about 170 pathetic hp. How much HP can I expect to gain? What would be a good 1/4 mile time for that?

I would expect about half the HP gain the money it would cost you would give if spent on an LT1 swap.
Going through all of the modifications and expense to put LT1 heads & intake on a Gen I SBC never made sense to me, and doing it on a 305 makes even less.

The only thing directly swappable is the LT1 cam. The heads and the intake require extensive modification to work with a standard SBC engine.
You can find out more info about the LT1 intake here: http://www.lt1intake.com/
For the LT1 camshaft swap, see the TBI board, as its been discussed numerous times.

to kevin91Z, I've heard about the intake swap and whats involved and Im intersted in doing that. My question is whats involved in making the heads work with the SBC? thanks again for your help

The head swap would not be worth it, way more money and effort than gain. If you want a better flowing head, buy a small aluminum like a 180cc or find a decent flowing set up iron 350 heads, they will flow as much air as your 305 will ever use. Swapping a 350 in is the better choice but good luck either way.

The entire LT1 swap would cost less than modifying the parts to fit a Gen I SBC.
