swapping to 350 need advise on this motor

ok so ive done a lot of thinking about this and have decided to get rid on the 305 and put a 350 in. now this is the motor im looking at:

350 4 bolt main, bored .030 over, port matched 305 H.O. heads w/1.92 valves and LT1 springs. Has .470 lift cam, headers, 1.6 roller rockers, 10k miles

now this guy says that he expects around 300 horses to the flywheel. im going to drive the truck that the motor is in now and see how it drives. he said that he was at a light with a 92 corvette and they raced and that he stayed with the corvette door to door till he let off when he hit 85. and he told me that in my car with it being lighter that it would move quicker which i can see that. i tried asking what the gas milage was but he said he doesnt know. i dont think it would be worse that my rich running 305 at 18 miles to the gallon. so any advise on this would be great. is it a good set up? is it a bad setup? like ive said in past posts im not looking for outrageouse HP just more than my 170 right now. and the way i look at it with the 350 is if i want to add or change something i can do it a lot easier with this one than the 305

thanks guys

What induction system and exhaust does your car have now?

I've played with so many kids in their dad's pickup truck (among other vehicles), letting them think they've scored a "kill", that I wouldn't take any stock in his Corvette story whatsoever.

well hes knocking the price down to 900 if i let him keep the carb and intake. im keeping the stock TPI setup. but will later upgrade to something better. and i have a 3 inch manifold back flowmaster exhaust with cat delete

Need more specifics on the cam, then. It may drive the TPI bonkers.

what do you mean "bonkers"? thats all the specs he gave me. his had a two barrel carb setup. i dont want to go to a carb setup on my car. i like fuel injecion and i dont want to mess with the mods to change it over. ill have to ask him then. i didnt think there would be a problem.

High cam overlap will cause O2 sensor misreadings, especially at low RPMs. ".470 lift" is inadequate information - it may be fine, it may be horrible.

Swapping out the cam isn't that big of a deal, especially if he's keeping the intake and it's a flat-tappet engine.
