305 to 327 or 350, is it worth it?
I have a completely stock 1984 Trans Am WS6 with the LG4.
The car has been meticulously cared for by its original owner and my father, but I was wonderin what a motor swap would do to its value and show-ability.
I'm scared of messing anything up or having so much power that I have to rebuild the entire drivetrain, but I do want enough power to keep up with and beat Foxbodies and LT1's.
I have 4 questions.
1. Is it worth the swap?
2. Which motor should I swap to?
3. Is the swap difficult?
and 4. What will it do to the value of the car?
I'm torn between keeping it stock as a showcar or swapping/ modding to get enough horsepower to really have fun with it.
What do you all think?

I doubt these cars will have any value stock for at least another 50 years, so if you're willing to live with the LG4 until then, keep it stock.
If you want to keep up with Foxbodies and LT1's, it's going to take a very healthy 305 to do that. Certainly won't happen with stock LG4 exhaust.
You can see in my sig what I've got in mine now. Prior to that, it had the 305 with same heads, exhaust, and torque converter, 2.93 gears, Crane 2050 compucam (a little more duration than the ZZ4). It ran a best of 15.80 @ 90 MPH (at our altitude). First run with the 350, same gears at that time, and the transmission rebuilt when the 350 shortblock was put in, was a 14.38 @ 95 MPH. It outruns stock LS1 autos.
The 350 is the smartest way to achieve the stated goal. Except for headers, it can look like a completely stock 305.
I'm not into car shows, so I couldn't really say what putting a 350 into it would do to you. I suppose in some types of shows, it would put you into a "modified" class that would make a stock-appearing car look pretty plain.
