Best engine out of these two
Best engine out of these two
I have been doing some reasearch for several weeks trying to find a good turn key crate engine. I don't know to much about the inside in terms of good quality parts, but I know enoguh to bs during a conversation. I looked at GM engines and none of them had quite as much power that I was looking for. So i found these two and have been going back and forth for days now trying to figure out which one is better, and wondering if these engines are worth the money. I plan on using a standard transmission, and just using the car as my daily car.

if you HAVE to get one of those motors, the second one will/should be a better performing motor. The compression is more matched with the the cam than the jegs motor and the shorter duration cam in the second motor will make for a torquey motor down down low to the midrange rpms which makes for a better, more fun street car as you said its going to be your daily driver. The really good thing about the first motor though is that it has a 3.75" crank that cranks up the displacement to 383ci.....but with those heads, intake and carb, it'll be a little lazy....the cam is not bad though a little on the small side for a 383. So its up to you to decide if you wanna go for the added cubic inches or a better performing motor in the 350 right off the bat.

not saying theres anything wrong with the motors, i was just assuming you really wanted one of those but don't know which one to choose. Honestly if it were me, i'd go for the bigger cubes to begin with but then again my car is not a daily driver by any means and before long that 383 would have all the goodies to run low 11s or better but thats ME....and what sense would it make for me to drop 5grand or more on a motor just to tear it apart/swap parts to make it perform better, might as well build it the way you want it from scratch. Hope i'm not confusing you here.

The turn key option above looks real nice.
If you are going to buy a turn key engine don't get a non roller block and flat tappet cam and get alum heads. The jegs motor while cheaper, doesn't have near as quality parts.

It's not a jegs motor. Blue Print is a seperate company, and you can buy them through many dealers. Probably from someone local who will eat most of the shipping cost. They are a reputable sizable company, who should be good to work with if you have some problems. I spent quite a while just shooting the bull with a rep at the Street Rod Nationals here in Louisville.
Personally, I prefer GMPP.
