350 swap?
350 swap?
Hey y'all, im thinking of buying a third gen and doing a 350 swap into it as a fun project/cruiser. My goal is 350 -400 hp. I havent done alot of searching around yet but im wondering if yall can point me in the right direction of some good builds to look at. Also, what trans should i be looking for that will handle the power of a 350 and fit into the third gen easily

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
350 builds are talked about a lot. Search here and on the Tech/General Engine forums.
A TH700R-4 (the "standard" automatic in '84-up 3rd gens) can be built to handle that kind of power easily. Check the Transmission/Drivetrain forum for that sort of information.

Re: 350 swap?
My plan right now is to slowly work up to a really pretty example of a late 80s/early 90s third gen camaro. These things are plentiful around here and I've always wanted to do a build like this. I know enough now to get myself into trouble and im sure ill learn more getting out. For now my plan is, once I find a v8 car to do the swap in, preferablly with the trans still in the car. Is to hunt down a 350 and swap the Fuel injection stuff from the 305 into the 350 and drop it in the car and drive it around like that for awhile. So, tell me how far off i am now? Is it possible to swap the TPI(?) stuff from a 305 to a 350 relatively painlessly? I've been reading some of the threads and that dosent seem too bad of an idea right now.

Yes, it's possible. It's also possible to buy a 350 TPI 3rd gen.
Re: 350 swap?
This is true. I guess what I'm looking at is hunting down a TPI 350 and swapping everything into the project car, or getting a regular 350 and swapping over the TBI stuff. Which im guessing is not nearly as effecting as the TPI. Am i going in the right direction with this, lol?
