Engine swap
Engine swap
I'm new to this. I just bought an 87 friebird w/ the 305 tpi. Well i've been thinking about dropping a 350 in it, but i'm not sure it will bolt up, or if i'll have any other problems. If somebody can give some advice I'd appreciate it! Thanks
Re: Engine swap
It will bolt up and you will have other problems.
Advice? Don't spend any money or do anything until you've studied for a year or two and know exactly what you want and what you're getting into.

Interesting username.
The stickies won't help much here.
There were many different 350's put out by the factory. Since you have an '87, and '87-up passenger car 350 would be the best first choice. Even then, there are differences, so specifics are needed.
The good new is the '87 TPI system was mass air flow, so it's fairly tolerant of changes such as displacement. But, the knock sensor and injectors were different between 305 and 350, so those would need to change.
The TPI forum would probably be a better place to find details about the differences. But, if you have specifics (such as emissions testing and/or inspection where you live, and what 350 you're planning on installing), help can be provided here.
