LS1 swap to a historic camaro...
LS1 swap to a historic camaro...
is it 20 or 25 years that classifys a car as historic so that the insurance is extremely cheap? or is it something that is based on what state you live in? I saw someone on here a couple of days ago and I thought they had said 1988 (20 years)

depends on your state, here in Texas you can get classic plates at 25 years but all it is, is a special plate, or you can get antique plates at 25 years, and you no longer need an inspection, and u can get "cheap" antique insurance, but be aware it comes with strict limitations, like u cant legally just go for a drive, the only time you can drive the car on public streets are too and from auto events, or for repair service and parade duty.....I just turned 23 and insurance for my 89 IROC is less the 50 bucks a month, im pretty sure u can get normal insurance cheap at age 33 unless you have a ****t up driving record

Those are the largest but not only ones. Check around locally.
The age of the car depends on the company. I live in Canada and can't use either of those I listed but my company the car has to be 15 years or older. Age may vary
Basic rules that are very common in the industry are:
You have to have a daily driver insured and cannot drive your collector car to work.
I believe they all stipulate you can use them for "pleasure driving" Most have no limits on
mileage.
A few other things:
The driver might have to be minimum age--driver abstract perhaps too.
And you might need an apraisal done.
And FYI--classic plates have nothing to do with collector car insurance (per igotta355z28)--you don't need them.
What this have to do with an LS1 swap? You didn't really say. However, you can get polices that allow for non-stock modifications.
