Taking engine out

Just wanted to see what you guys have done when you took out your LB9 out. Did you remove the radiator before trying to pull it out? Did you just take out the engine, or did you leave the trans bolted to it and remove them both at the same time. Any tips, tricks, or any surprises i need to know about, please feel me in. I'm already behind in this project. I need at least SOMETHING to go right. Thanks for any info guys.

Re: Taking engine out

It's safer for the rad if you pull it out first. I prefer to pull the engine and transmission out separately. Some people prefer to pull them out together.

Re: Taking engine out

Also, not sure what car it is, but if it is a Firebird, you need to remove the "nose assembly" to get the engine hoist close enough to the engine. Also, to help give clearance, the back end of the car needs to go up. So, when the tranny is unbolted and supported on a jack, lift the back end of the car up as high as you can. Then when you unbolt the motor mounts, this will allow the engine/tranny combo to move out smoothly and clear the rad support.
