V6 to V8 swap with parts car
i have a 1991 V6 firebird right now. but i might be able to get my hands on a 1987 GTA with a L98 and 700r4 with borg warner 3.27 with disk brake for 1k or less. ( the bad is its rust and a hardtop) is this worth it to buy and swap. the gta runs and drives.
how much would it cost to do the swap ( extra parts)
is it worth to swap the L98 TPI system in the car or go carbed
is it worth to swap the rearend in the car with disk rears
is it worth to swap any interior, guages, lights, etc.
on a scale of 1-10 with moderate mechanics skills how hard is the swap? mainly worried about electronics. (my key chip is already bypassed)
thanks alot.

You shouldn't need to buy anything other than normal replacement parts like belts, hoses, etc.
Everything should be worth swapping over except the interior stuff.
Technically, it isn't legal since the engine is older than the chassis.
I'd call it a 4 on the difficulty scale. Putting a different V6 in would be a 2, spark plugs a 1.

Just motor mounts for a V8, why do you already have V8 Springs on your car? Doesnt it sit kinda high in the front with them?

Yup, Id like to see pics of it if you have any. Im curious to see what it looks like.
Im in the process of swapping out my 2.8l V6 to a 400 SBC, and I left my V6 Springs in.

Re: V6 to V8 swap with parts car
I want my car to sit lower than stock thats why I left them in. I know of a few people on the boards that are running V6 springs in a V8 car, especially for drag racing. I doubt itll ride rough, but I may bottom out from time to time Ill just have to watch.
Im picking up a parts car soon, so if I dont like how they ride/feel/look I can take the V8 springs out of that car and throw them in.

Re: V6 to V8 swap with parts car
I have a 91 Camaro with a 305 in it now running v6 springs. The only thing that it really does is the front skirt piece will scape and I hear the salt on the road go flying. Im gonna do a 305 to 350 swap here soon. What v8 motor are you putting in yours?
