92 305 tbi RS intake mods???

Hey guys, new to this site and let me say....badass! I have learned alot and wanted to learn a little more before my next project. I just got a 1992 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI for dirt cheap, and i have a TPI intake manifold and everything that bolt to it with harness and ECm from a 83 vette (i know 85 ecm blow) I was wondering if i could use the Manifold, runners, plenum and throttle body, distributor on my 305??? I mean the sensor i would have to get is the MAP, for speed density, but If i can get a PROM from a 1992 camaro 305 TPI it should be fine right. I know i will need a bigger fuel pump as well. What do you guys think? If im correct all 1992 camaros used same computer just with different proms. let me know what you think cause it seems to work out in my head but im a little new to fuel injection. Thanks

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

'85 (I assume you mean '85, not '83) was mass air flow, not speed density. So, you wouldn't be able to use the '92 computer regardless.

But, you can almost use all of the '85 stuff. The TPI base will have the older mount bolt pattern with all of the bolts at 90 degrees, while the heads have the center two bolts on each side at 72 degrees.

Right that's what I meant 1985. I know the pre 90 is maf sensor but if I buy the correct sensors for speed density the prom should work right,

I suppose. You'd have to splice the TPI and TBI harnesses, unless you get a SD TPI harness.

I've never heard of anyone using a TBI harness and ECM on TPI, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. I know TPI batch fires the injectors half & half, not sure TBI does that.
