L98 swap manual

Sorry that this is going to be long. Need to define somethings to get the best answer.
I recently saw a show on Speed TV that said you can purchase a manual that has a step by step procedure on engine swaps (I assume you can purchase for your particular model). I didn't catch the name though. I want to have my son's 89 GTA engine rebuilt for him for his college graduation (I have 3 years). As well as get someother things taken care of. I have built a '34 Ford w/ a 351 Cleveland but have no (and I do mean no) knowledge of Chevy engines much less EFI. So this is completely knew to me. Swapping the engine doesn't scare me nearly as much as that darn computor (sorry, old school here).
Thanks in advance

So you just want to remove the engine, rebuild it, and reinstall it?

Or, put in a different engine?

Or, put the engine into something else?

Being an old school old fart myself, all I can say is the computer stuff is a lot less intimidating working with it than it is thinking about it. Kind of grows on you. At work I see computer controls doing things that used to be done with mechanical parts (pressure regulators, valves, etc.), that you can do with much better control and often less weight and complexity and higher reliability, so I'm convinced it's the right way to go.

Re: L98 swap manual

I do want to rebuild it and reinstall it.
I am a mech eng. and have worked along side PLC's for motion control, but have never worked on them. And I agree they do add much more benefits than w/o. Still the wiring is intimidating at first. Greatest fear: No matter how careful you are, break a wire somewhere where you can not see it and you have created a nightmare, especially for a first time user.
