What do i need exactly from my donor?
I'm trying to replace the 3.1 in my 91 camaro with a v8. I've found a guy in town parting out an 87 Firebird with a 305.
I know I need the engine/ tranny and the front springs. Do I need the driveshaft? Can someone please help me with a list of everything I need to make sure I take from the donor while I'm there? I only get one chance.
The sticky mentions the ecm and wiring harness. Do I need the ecm if I'm going from TBI to Carb'd? My v6 is great except a severe wiring issue won't allow it to run which is why I'm doing the swap so I would really like to avoid as much of my old wiring as I can. I'm pretty sure I can use my radiator, the hoses are on the opposite sides as the radiator in my '89 RS and if I remember correctly it's a little bigger.

You don't need the driveshaft.
Assuming you're going to use the '87 accessories (a good idea), you might as well get the part of teh engine harness that goes to the rear driver's side corner of the engine compartment. That will contain the ignition power, alternator wiring, gauge wiring, etc. that you will need.
You can leave the V6 ECM in place. That will help with the fuel pump power (as in, keep it operating). But, that's about the only function that will remain that's controlled by the ECM.
You might want to compare sway bars as well. The V8 piece is often larger than the V6 bar.
