Swap out 87 305 carb for 90 350 FI

Heres is what I got. I am sorry if this has been covered. I am confused reading all the different combos out there. I have an 87 IROC with the 305 carb engine. I also have a 90 chevy truck with a 350 FI engine. I figured the two blocks would be interchangeable as far as mounts and such. Then I read something about oil pans on the truck being larger? Also is the wiring different. I assume I need to get the computer out of the truck what else. Is this reasonable or should I skip it all. The 305 run OK it is just the 350 FI runs smoother and starts easier and I like it!

The two engines are interchangeable as far as bolting into the car.

The truck TBI system will have to come out in its entirety - engine, harness, sensors, ECM. The TBI fuel pump is different, you'll have to replace the in-tank electric with a higher pressure pump (the TPI application pump works well with TBI). You'll also need to modify the fuel lines between the chassis and engine (might be able to cannibalize the truck lines and splice them into the Camaro lines).

The truck oil pan is the same as long as it isn't more than a 3/4 ton. However, the truck exhaust manifolds won't fit in the chassis, and the LG4 exhaust manifolds are restrictive to an LG4 - headers would be a good idea now, and the Hooker 2055HKR for the '86-'90 TPI single cat application would be a good choice. The rest of the exhaust is also restrictive, so get aftermarket for the same application as the headers.

In my personal opinion, the carb system would be much easier to do - all of the wiring stays compatible (there will be some minor issues putting the truck harness in a car), and the carb can easily be made to start and run well just by getting everything within factory specs. I drive my computer carb'd 350 daily, and it doesn't give me any trouble starting or running.
