I have an 89 GTA minus engine and trans. I've got the original shifter and driveshaft.
I've got a chance at picking up a cheap 91 GMC vandura... would it be a good candidate for a donor, or should I keep looking?

 

id say go 4 it. if its got the orignal motor. that year should have a 1pc rear main and center bolt valve covers great to make a tpi motor with. btw im really jealous ive been lookin for that motor...

then slap a carb on top of it. but id go 4 it.

any idea if the tranny will cause any issues or should it be pretty straight forward?

 

personally i would find a differnt tranny. thats a heavy vehicle and theres no tellin what kind of abuse that things seen. and depending on what kind of #s your goin to be pushing will depend on the tranny you want. check around the board and see what other people have to say. also ask five7kid he knows his stuff... hope that helps ya
