383 Swap best heads/cam combo?
Hi everyone! I've been a luker for a while now, I have a 1983 Trans Am that I absolutely love. I threw a rod in the 350, and was able to pick up a 383 stroker short block that has been balanced and was built for a 9.5:1 compression ratio.
I have been thinking about putting on the Patriot Performance 190cc heads on it, but I have no idea which cam would be the best to match.
Thanks guys!

Ask an experienced engine builder, or contact comp cams i think they have expert technicians to help you choose the right cam for your set up.

carbureted? is the block a 1-piece rear main seal, or 2-piece? Flat-top pistons, or dished? what gear ratio in the rear axle?

Yes it's carburated, the block is a 1 piece rear main seal. The Keith Black pistons are dished, (D-cup). The gears in the rear end are stock for an '83 Trans Am, I think that'd be 3:23 or something.
Thanks for your help guys!

One more question. Where in Utah? whether or not you have emissions testing affects how much overlap you can get away with.

If you have to pass an emissions test, I'd say a COMP XE270HR10, if not, I'd say an XE276HR10
