305tbi to 355 carb, what wiring can i ditch.

So im getting rid of my 305 hopefully tomorrow after school. And i just finished my 355 which is carbed. Im wondering how hard it is to wire up a msd 6al box to a seperate coil and distributor. and what wiring i can get rid of? Can i tear out the computer or does the gauges for some reason need it? I have done engine swaps but never fuel injected to carb.

Thanks,
Tim

Well, you couldn't have searched, because the question is asked quite often.

You don't have to cut any wires to remove the computer related stuff. The gauges don't go through those harnesses, and neither does the ignition power. The bundle that goes to the passenger fender can be removed as one piece - take out the plastic fender liner in the wheelwell, and kick panel inside the car. Unhook the harness from the ECM, unclip the pass-through connector, pull the harness out into the engine compartment. Unbolt/unhook anything it goes to, then take it all out in one piece.

The ignition and gauges go to the driver side corner. You'll probably have to reterminate some wires to hook up the MSD, but the MSD instructions are pretty clear on that.

MSD is very easy to install and the instructions are almost fail proof.
