swapping 85 305tpi for 89305tpi
I have a 85 iroc with 305tpi that the bottom went out. I have a 305 tpi engine complete with harness and computer out of a 89 iroc. what can i do to make the swap the easiest without hacking the wiring. Also the 89 was bolted to a manual trans and i have a 700 auto. Thanks

k, if your asking this, are you competent to replace an engine? the short blocks are the same. and thats all you need, so swap it over. there should be no need to hack wires.

So if the harness out of the 89 will attatch at the firewall on the left side, slide the right hand through for the computer, im good to go. use the flex plate off the 85, the park switch is with the original harness so that will be ok. I will also have to have the chip redone for an automatic and deactivate VATS. Just checking, Thanks.

An '85 flexplate won't fit on an '89 crankshaft. You need to buy a flexplate for the '89.
