LO3 Head Options
I'm thinking of throwing a set of Vortec heads on my '91 RS. I'm not too familiar with 305s. I do understand that for the most part, a small block Chevy is a small block Chevy and most parts will interchange.
My question(s):
1) A stock 305 swirl port head has a 58cc combustion chamber, correct?
2) What would happen if I put 64cc Vortec heads on my LO3? I would assume lower compression.
3) Are there a set of 58cc Vortec heads? Anyone know where to find them?
4)Will all factory accessory brackets bolt on?
5) Does bore size play a role in selection of small block heads? i.e.- 305 bore vs. 350 bore.

Correct.
Correct. About half a point or so. You could have the Vortec heads shaved to reduce the chamber size and raise compression back up.
Yes, but they aren't the same good ports and chambers of the 350 Vortec heads.
Yes.
To a small extent, but not for stock heads with 1.94/1.50" valves, or even 1.94/1.60" valves.
