Carbd 350 into a TB 89 RS
How hard would it be to swap a carbd 350 motor (motor in the signature) into a 89 RS 305 TBI? I don't have a cherry picker, i might be able to get one, but if i can't any advise on building a cheap one? (lumber & chains lol).
Does the TBI have a in tank fuel pump? cause my 350 has an external fuel pump. What should i do if that were the case?
Could i pull the motor and tranny in one go or would that be to big of a PITA?
A break down of this kind of swap would be greatly appreciated....

Rent or borrow an engine hoist. You could build an A-frame hoist, but you'd still need some sort of hoist (do you have something available?). We always used the chain hoist off of a grain elevator hooked to a beam laid between the rafters of the shop back on the farm; lift the engine, roll the car away.
You can use the TBI in-tank electric pump if you get a return-style regulator like the Mallory 4309. The cheap $25 Holley reg doesn't cut it. If you don't have the in-tank electric pump running and use any other kind of pump, you need to drop the tank and remove the stock pump.
You can do the engine and transmission together. I prefer it that way, personally.
The rest is nuts & bolts details. Going from EFI to carb is detailed in a tech article linked from the TGO homepage. Details of removing and replacing the engine/trans are in your Haynes or Chilton manual.

Okay, so i have a mechanical style fuel pump that comes off my block, if i try and use the electric pump, is there a way i can take the mechanical off and put a plate or something there to cover it? can i use the stock TBI fuel lines and hook them up to the carb? i can get an aftermarket regulator.
Its just that i can buy a 89 RS for 1300, white, in great condition, i only have 1700 right now, and i ship out in 3 weeks, im not sure its worth it to do all this and have like 100 bucks left over and less than 2 weeks to enjoy the car.
oh and i'm sure i have find an engine hoist.
