starter issues.
starter issues.
after getting all the parts that I need to make much Truck 305 bolt up to a T5 tranny... i have found another issue. the camaro starter has the side by side bolt pattern, and the GMC truck block has a staggard bolt pattern.
is there another cone I'm able to get that will still keep the starter close to the engine, but has the staggard bolt pattern?
or do I just toss the 305 and throw all the performance parts from it onto a 350 with the correct bolt pattern?

Re: starter issues.
before we all tell you to go 350, let me detail how to use what you have. First you need a profduction starter brace to match your starter, then bolt your starter in place using the outer bolt and the brace. I forget what size of drill bit to use, but it needs to be a bit undersize, wrap it with duct tape so it won't eat the starter, and so you can tap your new hole for threads. Then use the starter to guide the wrapped drill bit.

Thanks for the reply! il see what i can find for a brace. but im really considering just grabing up a 350, ive have never run this 305 yet since i rebuilt it so i may just take my cam and all the after market stuff i put into it and swap what i can to the 350.
anyone know if a 86+ 350 has the opening for a mechanical puel pump? my 305 is a 1990 and it has it. id imagin the 350 would be the same.
