Can Anyone help me.....
i have a 1989 Camaro RS
i need help indentifying my engine
the mechanic that worked on it told my uncle that he had swaped the with a corvette one and charged him about 3000 i think, that then broke like 3 months later after that he told him that he would swap it with a Z28 one
and charged him like 3000 bucks more
that was like 4 years ago
from what i remember it looks the same as the one it had
i wanna know what kind of engine it is
the numbers i found on the back of the engine said
W3 GM 14102182
can anyone help me tell weather it's the original or a different engine
please...
thanks.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
14102182 is the intake manifold casting #. Doesn't tell you much, as it is very likely that the intake manifold moved with every engine change.
You need to look behind the driver side head for a similar casting number. Or, often the last three digits of the casting number are often on the side of the block, seen from under the car. The last three digits are what really matter, but the whole number makes it easier to look up on http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm .

Re: Can Anyone help me.....
About 90% of the vehicles that supposedly have a Corvette engine swapped in, don't. In the '70s, that usually meant flat top pistons instead of dished, and in the mid-late '80s, it meant aluminum heads. But most Corvette 350 parts are the same as truck 350 parts, it's cheap and easy to fake a 'vette engine.
