My front grill Camaro license plate lettering looks silver to me..... I see white lettering grills for sale, and was wondering if they also came with silver letters ?

They were all originally white on 85-90

 

Thank's.... Mine just are not white white I guess. Probably from age.

 

My 85 is silver. IIRC, they came in silver and gold.

Doe's it have to do with the trim on the car..... my wheels have silver paint and it's a dark red metallic car ?

 

I just got a NOS grill for mine and I believe it is white letters..can't remember that many years ago but you may be right on the silver and gold colors..

 

That's what made me wonder... The ones I see for sale on ebay say white letters... I took that as maybe they came in other colors ?

 

A search on site says silver and gold (OE).

They are silver and gold only. Are you sure the white is on an NOS piece or is it a GM restoration parts piece? I'm finding parts that are being reproduced are not to the exact specs as the original.

 

idk Scott..maybe I am just getting color blind in my old age..lol...I will pull mine from the box tomorrow and verify..will report back pics of it..

So none of the originals came with White letters but Silver or Gold ?

I guess a guy could spray them Silver..... but masking the letters off would be a bit of a job.

Another question..... is the Black grill surround painted from the factory or just Black plastic ?
