I am going to replace the worn V6 in my 84 Bird soon, along with just about everything that will unbolt from the car. But recently decided to use my 400 pontiac engine on another project instead. Now I am looking for an engine that I can drop in to my car. I have a lead on a 89 Formula that is wrecked but the drivetrain is good(the engine still runs)that has been sitting for the last 5 years. I can get the drivetrain whole along with the electronics, would this be a good starting point to build an 11 second, naturally aspirated, street car?

if it were me and i was looking at 11s i'd buy a mosher rear, and look at a crate engine as well as a stronger aftermarket trans.

I am trying to do this on a bit of a budget. Not much, but a bit. I would rebuild the engine before putting it in, and upgrade parts as necessary to get the performance I want.
As far as 11's, if I can run 11.95 on a consistent basis, I'd be happy....for now.
