AFR 190 heads and blower

I am still in the planning stages of my "street legal" 350. I have decided to use Weiand's low profile SC. Comp Cams has recommended a cam to use with the blower that will pass emmissions. Weiand suggests around an 8:1 CR for the engine. OK enough of that. I had decided on AFR 190 heads because the exhaust flows so well. It seems the intake port is larger that a stock manifold. The SC is made to replace a stock manifold. I am concerned about the SC mating well with the AFR head. Should I pick another head like an Edelbrock or port the intake manifold on the SC or just not worry about it because I won't be able to tell any difference?

I'm about to spend a lot of money so if anyone sees a massive problem with this engine combo please tell me.

Thanks for the help

Glen

I don't think I would run anything over 8.5 even then.... Have you consulted either AFR or Weiand about the intake. The weiiand intake should fall in place as far as I know. I don't think the AFR heads are to crazy i.e. vortec bolt pattern, raised runner ports, etc.. You should verify that the center bolts are the same angle on both heads and intake. Remember the 87 later angle change. All in all I thing your combo will stomp. The new AFR 190 and 195 really rock. I drooled over them before my car was totalled. Good luck

Yeah, those AFR heads are great...except for the price. When it comes to hp:$ it's hard to justify when using nat. aspiration. Then again you're SCing and those AFR heads might just be the best hp:$ spent if you do everything else right.
I'm pissed that vortec heads don't have EGR. How hard do you think it would have been for them to make a version for all us NJ, NY, and CA peeps wanting cheap clean hp. :-( at least Chevy hasn't stopped making the 5.7 (ford went from 5.0 to 4.6, what a crock).

Thanks for the replies. I got a response from AFR about their heads and they said the intake is a little larger than a stock head. They claimed as long as the SC manifold is the same size or smaller I'll be fine. The SC manifold is made to replace the stock manifold so I think the AFR heads will have a slightly larger intake port. I think I could get away with just bolting everything together but it will be best to port match the SC manifold to the AFR head. To tell the nightmare I have had with Weiand's tech support I would have to create a whole new thread.

Thanks again for the responses.
