Quest for finding vortec
I would like to build a 383 using vortec (L31) heads.
1) Which trucks had a 350 with these heads (so I can just take it out and not worry about finding the block and heads separately)?
2) Do they have 4 bolt main caps?
3) What kind of induction do they have and will it be enough to feed a 400hp 383?
Any help would be appreciated, Tony

96-98 chevy trucks and SUVs with "R" as the eigth vin number had the Vortec 350. If youre only going for 400 HP dont worry about 4 bolt mains. All of these engines were equipped with SFI, which I doubt would be worth using (money and time) on a high horsepower application like the one you describe. Dont bother with the SFI induction system and if youre really hellbent on having 4 bolt mains.....the answer is yes...I think
