TPI setup for GM crate engine

All of this talk about GM crate engines has me interested. The question I have is, what is the best way to get a TPI setup (w/computer) to bolt onto the crate engine?
I know that places like TPI Specialties offer setups for mucho bucks. I'm just looking for the stock setup. I can always add onto that later.

The applicationis my '92 RS. having owned two TBI Camaro's and one TPI Camaro, I am not interested in keeping the TBI on any new engine.

Thanks for your input

Haven't ever done it, so take this for what it's worth:

Just step up and pay the freight for a TPI system that's already set up.

I beleive the archive has a TBI=>TPI conversion, and it's not brain surgery, but there is a lot of detail work involved.

You will spend close to what a TPIS or equivalent system will set you back by the time you are ALL DONE.

There are chips to buy, injectors, etc, as well as sorting out the issues with the harness and VATS. Gonna want at least a little more TB, too.

You get it all in one shot with a good experienced aftermarket setup, and the tech support ( the real bonus ) you need to get it tuned and running right.

You could do it yourself with a boneyard TPI rig, and lots of nights and weekends, getting nickel and dimed to death.

Plus, just bolting on a stocker, with no mods will starve the engine out and burn it up. You are going to need fuel for at least half again as much SAE net horsepower as you have now, as well as managing a different vacuum signal ...

Aieee...if you want to take all the chances, go ahead, but think of this as fair warning.

People are selling TPI setups all the time. Check the classifieds, or post your own "parts wanted" ad. Everything needed to convert from hardware, harnesses, ECM, pump, et al can be obtained, often in one shot.

The 305 & 350 setups were identical except for the injector flow. You can taylor your system to a 350 crate by getting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and/or 22# injectors. Porting the plenum and gasket matching the intake will go a long way towards keeping the crate motor happy.

Personally, if my carb setup passes emissions after the engine work I have planned (Aug-Sep this year), I'll have a setup for sale. It's missing the injectors, fuel rails, regulator, & pump. I've seen all of these on the classifieds. I'd keep it myself, but I got burnt out on the V8 swap. Injection is just going to have to wait for another project (perhaps a Ramjet 502 for the '57...).
