Hi! I'm new to this message board and it just wanted to know: IS THE TPI 305 MOTOR A PIECE OF JUNK OR NOT!

82 Berlinetta, orig V-6 car, now w/86 LG4/TH700R. 2.93 limited slip. Cat-back from '91 GTA, Accel HEI SuperCoil. AMSOIL syn lubes bumper-to-bumper. Daily driver, work-in-progress (LG4 w/LB9 block, ZZ3 cam and intake, WP 305 heads ported & polished, TBD headers & hi-flow cat).
57 Bel Air, my 1st car. 0.030 over 396, Weiand Action+, Edelbrock 1901 Q-Jet, Jacobs Omnipack, 1-3/4" headers, TH400 w/TCI Sat Night Special conv & shift kit, 3.08 10-bolt, AMSOIL syn lubes bumper-to-bumper. Best 15.1 @ 5800' Bandimere. Daily driver while Camaro was being put together.

Well, welcome to the board. Just like something else everyone has, everyone has an opinion...
i'm glad we settled that. want to try to figure out if TBI is as good (or bad) as everyone says?

THE 305 IS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR SOMETHING. i JUST CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING RIGHT NOW.

hey hey
my original intake, original headed, original piston, original EVERYTHING 305 runs like hell. granted i did port the heads and intake, removed the emissions stuff, lost the computer, added headers, a nice cam, and milled the heads for 10:1 CR. the old Z will just run with a new LS1 and it is great fun. my 305 revs to 6200 and it would go further if the driver was more confident in his engine work (and stock parts!!!)
anyway, quit dissing the 305!!! they can be made to run wonderfully for very little cash!
