What's needed for a 305 - 350 swap?

Didn't find an answer to this in a forum search, so I figured I'd ask:

I'm swapping my 305 for a custom-built 350 (just above stock, probably in the 300-330hp range, as it's gonna function as my daily driver). The shop doing the install says the only thing I should need extra is a stock 350 prom chip from Hypertech, and that I can use my current injectors (stock 19lb.). But Summit says I should use the 22lb injectors, and that I also need a 350 knock sensor.

Do I really need the 22lb. injectors or is Summit just trying to make a sale? Also, is there anything else that either the shop or Summit failed to mention?

BTW, here are the car stats: 89 Formula 305 TPI 5-speed. I'm swapping my T5 w/ a Tremec 3550 just after the motor swap (different shop is going to do that work), so the 350 won't be driven enough to shred the T5.

Thanks.

I'm surprised to hear you couldn't find info on this topic. So...

You can use 19lb injectors on a 350. But, you'll need to bump up the regulator pressure, so either get an AFPR or modify yours per the tech article. That's not a bad idea even if you get 22lb injectors.

You should use a 350 knock sensor & module, but many have said they use the 305 pieces with no problems.

Depending upon the year/style of your 350, you may need a different flywheel for a two-piece rear main seal crank (your '89 305 is a one-piece). If you use a one-piece 350, no problem. Make sure the crank has a pilot bearing in it.

You should use a 350 harmonic balancer.

While it's apart, port the plenum.

If you are using a 1 peice rear main seal 350 then use the 305 flywheel. I ran into a huge problem finding a starter to fit my 350 after this swap because I had the larger 350 flywheel. I ended up using a $180 after market mini starter. Of course after I had bought it and put it on I found out that I could have taken the nose cone off of teh 350 starter and put it onto the smaller 305 starter and it would have worked (this info would have saved me the $180 sence I had both the 305 and 350 starters there already... but hey I will know next time)

So far car has only been to the track twice and is having sever traction problems but is running 60'-2.34 1/8 mile-9.2 @ 79 MPH.

when i did my swap, i used the same (well it was a new one, but teh same as a stock one) knock sensor. EVRY place i asked about it was like "yeah there is no difference between a knock sensor for a 305 or 350." hopefully they were right. i think though, that i asked them to look up a 305 and a 350 sensor, and they were the same part number.

i would get a bigger damper too. i still have a smaller one (6.75"), because the guys at the dealer told me it was ok, but i plan on getting a ne wone eventually.

i dont know too much about TPI setups, so i'll let the other guys answer that part.

Can someone suggest a good AFPR that's not too expensive? I'm looking in the Jegs catalog, but I don't know one manufacturer from another and could use a little help. Thanks.

Crane is the cheapest I think, but I had to clerence the plenum for the bolt (I couldn't turn the damn thing with the bolt head flush up against the plenum)

Maybe i'm the only one who had this problem..

If you know someone who can weld take your cap off and have a 10-32 nut welded right on the cover, toss a blank inside. If I knew this was all they were i would've saved $60!!!
