TPI into First Gen Camaro?? Hard??

I'm building my 383 right now and I'm still having concerns about putting it into my IROC since it was hit over the summer and the frame is slightly tweaked. I'm considering dropping the new engine into a 69 Camaro if the frame shop thinks it's gonna be a pain to get the frame "just right" if that's possible. How difficult would it be to drop a TPI engine into a first gen? What would be required besides an ECM for just the engine?

Paul,

I'm doing something simular and have been poking around on this message board looking for info that may help. I've got a totaled 89 Firebird GTA and am in the process of pulling the 350 T.P.I. and 700r4 to use in my 68 RS.

I'm planning on using the GTA's wiring harness and just eliminating what I don't need and combining it with the headlight switch, turn signal, neutral satety switch, and wipers.

This is my first attempt at messing with a fuel injection system so it will be a real challenge for me. I'm hoping this message board has the kind people who are willing to lend me their experience when I hit one of those "bumps in the road".

I'm also keeping a digial photo diary and hope to (one day) build a web site explaining the process. I know I wasn't any help but I just wanted to let you know you weren't alone. If you find any info on the web that may make it easier, plese drop me a post.

Thanks,
Roy

why? ......tpi???? tpi makes no high rpm hp at all!! leave the carb man its a classic! tpi is good for 2 things:
fuel mpg
low end tq! and thats about the spectrum of tpi! for the endine you have planned the mods neede would be about 1000$ in costs and are afpr, bigger injectors, new lower or ported tpi base, ported plenum and runners, bigger tb and airfoil would also help! or just get a good carb and intake for about 500$ and have some "REAL HORSEPOWER!" not tpi crap!

Future mods performer rpm air gap intake (polished) comp roller cam, and way better headsa 400 defintely in the works!

burnoutrpm,

Thanks for your reply. My reasons for using the TPI is because... I LIKE IT! I also like the idea of being able to drive it on a 4-5 hour round trip without having to stop every 100 mile to fill up the gas tank.

Asside from the 68 RS, I currently have a 70 Monte Carlo SS 454, 97 C1500 w/ 4.3, 87 Fiero GT with 2.8 and 5-speed. I also have (though currently all apart) is a 69 Firebird 400 convertible and a 65 SS Nove is storage.

If I want to smoke the tires, I jump in the Monte Carlo. If I want to haul something, I jump in the truck. If I want to zip around corners, I jump in the Fiero.

My plans for the 68 RS is to blend a classic body with modern (all-be-it not the most modern) drive train. If I really wanted it to have MAX power in the RS, I go with a 502.

My intent in not to flame anyone. I just wanted to let you now that there are other reasons for building a car than maxing out the horsepower. Different strokes for different folks.

BurnoutRPM, I was thinking of using the TPI setup because originally I started building the engine for my IROC and then it got hit. I mean it's mostly fixed now, but they say it's never the same after the frame gets tweaked. I've always wanted a first gen Camaro, and I have a 3/4 built engine already. As far as the TPI setup, I already have a Super Ram and larger TB and AFPR so I don't have to worry about those upper RPM limitations.
