ZZ4 swap- cooling question
ZZ4 swap- cooling question
1986 Camaro...
I have built a ZZ4 (10243880) and now I am wondering about cooling. Does this motor require a reverse-rotation w/p to adequately cool the motor? If so, what is the cheapest route to run a serpentine belt system? I am not using an A/C, only power steering and alternator.

you are pretty much running the same setup as i am. here is a picture not sure on the water pump rotation though. but i am running the serpentine setup. The serpentine setup is not that much being that you only have the alt. and power steering pump. I actually have my power steering running on a V-belt over the water pump and the crank and the alt. running the serpentine belt on the water pump and crank.

The rotation direction of the water pump depends only upon the type of accessory drive system you have, not the engine you have.
Stock from '82 to '87 ran the water pump the same direction as the engine. '88-'92 used a serpentine system, which runs the water pump opposite of the rotation direction of the engine.
So, what do you have?
