Been scrappin' and collectin'

Hey guys. Been out running around the scrap yards and have fond some interesting items. I have purchased a 1970 4 bolt main 350, an 85 2.8 v6 "ran when I took it out of the car", for 50 bucks, also threw in a 2.8 short block with rebuilt heads, new crank, rods, pistions, cam etc. for 40 more bucks, a 3.4 short block out of a totaled 4th gen firebird, also got the like new interior from the bird at a fairly respectable fee. What I am thinking is this. Drop a fresh 2.8 back in my 89 RS, shine it up and sell it so that I can buy another with a v8...Hmmmm, maybe my wife is sane after all? But here is the catch, the 350 4 bolt has me thinking. I spotted a nice 68 RS just sitting, and sitting and sitting in town. It is surrounded by old trucks, a school bus, and a couple dump trucks and a utility trailor. Sure looks like a place that someone might let that Camaro go for a song......It's in the blood five7 and it ain't never gonna leave....

damn you ain't far from me. i even work with a couple of people from ashland area. you never know about the 68 untill you ask. i have a 84 z28 i've been trying to give away for a long time now and not had any takers. as you might of guessed there isn't much left of it.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I'd have to say, though, as a driver, a 3rd gen is highly superior to a 1st. But, for "proud appeal", the '68 gets the nod. I've been so close to a '67-'69 so many times...

Hmmm, take that '68 and 350, build it like a '68 Z engine: 3" crank, 11:1 pop tops, double-hump heads (or better yet, World Sportsmans), solid lifter cam, 4-speed Muncie, 4:11 12-bolt posi. Ooh, goose bumps!

No, go the other way: 3.75" stoke and all that other stuff.
