Time is nothing. It took me 4 months to build and install my big block. Most of that time was spent waiting for parts or machine work. $8000 later the engine is in and the car moves. Now if I wanted P/S, A/C and drivability, I'd probably still be working on it. The manual tranny would be a waste of time for an engine like that. Maybe if you bought a Lenco or a Jerico but again it comes back to money again.

Before deciding what you want to put in the car, decide how much are you willing to spend. Lots of money can do anything.

461 Big Block installed and ready for the 2001 racing season

Best results before the 383 blew up
Best ET on a time slip: 11.857 altitude corrected to 11.163
Best MPH on a time slip: 117.87 altitude corrected to 126.10
Altitude corrected rear wheel HP based on power to weight ratio: 476.5
Best 60 foot: 1.662

Racing at 3500 feet elevation but most race days it's over 5000 feet density altitude!

New trans, T5 will break first day with that kind of torque and hp. Even a 454 with 200hp will rip the trans apart so figure LOTS of money and LOTS of time.

Dale Earnhart, you have done so much, you will be missed.

The rear end will chew itself up in short order too.

That sounds like beefed and girdled 8.5" 10 bolt or 12 bolt or 9" F?rd material!
