Engine options, barely streetable for 6 grand??

I have about 6 grand to spend on a (turnkey) engine combo, I want to get the best 1/4 mile times possible and still be able to drive my car around on nice days.. My original plan was for a 355 w/ all forged bottom end to handle 250+ shot of nitrous, but people are suggesting I use a 383, I just want to go as fast as I can for the $$ help! I am putting money aside for a replacement trans and rear end just in case

I am also putting in new rear suspension and running 10" slicks. I would love to crack 11's but I probably don't have enough money

what about getting this motor with forged rods and pistons, and spraying about 100 - 150 shot on it?

oh yeah, I have an 87 350 block, heads, crank, and rods sitting in my garage (came out of my car, was for 355 project..) and a zz4 cam set with springs/locks/retainers and rocker arms..

A 383 would be a sweet motor. I myself am about to install a 383 in my 86 Z28. My set up is as follows: 186 casting heads(worked on),flat top pistons, cam specs-224int.234 exh. .488lift,dual exhaust,750 holley v.s.,Edelbrock performer intake and 2500 stall converter. Compression should be around 10.2:1 . I can't wait to drive my Camaro.

the stock bottom end should be good for 400 hp if its in good shape. Why not get a supercharger, or get forged pistons and nitrous.
