ENGINE IS OUT!!! Please HELP!!!!

I have the engine pulled out of my 87 GTA.
What would you guys suggest that I do to my car BEFORE I drop it back in???
I am having the engine COMPLETELY rebuilt, what else can you suggest I do to my motor for some extra performance, that will not cost me a fortune. I am already spending that!!! I dont want to go extreme like a stroker and such...
Thanks alot...time is of the essence...the engine gets dropped back in on thursday!!!

up grade the cam, pistons and port what ever you can. you should be replacing most of the parts any way. up grade the ignition parts as well. flow match the injecters.

Spend some time cleaning the engine compartment. You'll be glad you did.

You really should have asked this at least a month before you took the engine out. To do porting, for instance, you should figure a couple of weeks to get everything apart, cleaned, ported, and back together (unless you can work on it day and night - most of us can't). Most internal engine parts should be ordered before machining is started.

Cleaning up the engine compartment while the engine is out is good advice, though.
