What type?

I'm wondering if anybody can help me find specs/RPO for a block with code 1405705 or possibly 14057053 (rather corroded). I wouldn't ask if I hadn't spent the last hour searching web pages unsuccessfully for info on this engine. Thanks guys!

What size is it? What kind of rear main seal does it have? Does it have factory roller lifters installed? There's not much else to the specs. With a number like that anywhere on it, it's a 80-something or newer, so there are only 2 sizes of small blocks it could possibly be.

There's no residual magic you can tap into somehow by decoding what shape of sheet metal it came from the factory wrapped in. That's an exercise in j... ummm, gratuitous physical self-gratification.

Look at the top of the bell housing flange behind the driver's side head. Get the casting # from that place; the # you posted isn't a Chevy V8 block casting #. Right next to it it will say either "5.0" or "5.7". That will tell you whether it's a 5.0 liter (305) or a 5.7 liter (350).
