iam getting ready to drop in a 406 sbc and i was just wondering if i can drop in the motor and tranny together or will i have to do them seprate? and is it possiable to hook up the headers and then drop it in or do i have to wait until the motor is already in?

 

i do the engine and trans together, usually bolt up the torque converter after it's in the car. you'll have to have the car on jack stands and put a jack under the trans and raise it to level as you drop the engine in. about half way in set the headres in, but don't bolt them up, just leave them hang to bolt up after the engine mounts are bolted.
