HELP!!! Engine Rebuild Question
HELP!!! Engine Rebuild Question
I just had my Engine rebuilt. It is a 5.7 TPI.
I think they got in my pocket, but thats an entirely different issue. I wanted to keep my original engine BUT...here are the Questions.
They charged me $2085 for a complete rebuild, not including removal or install. Does that seem inline price wise?
Second question...I am having terrible valve clatter during acceleration. It sounds like you have shifted into 4th gear way too early.
Third and final. I was going thru my paperwork and the Cam they installed said it is for a 305 ci. I have a 5.7 TPI. Whats up with that???
Thanks alot!!!

run 93 octane fuel, adjust your base timing. hard to say if you got a fair price or not, since you never said what they did, or didn't do

305 and 350 cams are the same, except that you can get away with running one with more duration in a 350 and not upset the computer.
What are the cam specs?
Like ede said, the rattle when you're accelerating is caused by either crappy gas, or the ignition timing too far advanced, or both. It has nothing to do with valves. Valves don't clatter.
