Need help switching to serpintine on a '87 iroc
I am droping in a 350 ramjet into my '87 iroc that originally had a 350 tpi 700r4 combo. The ramjet requires the use of a serpintine accesory setup from an 88-92 v8 fbody, damn I only missed by one year. Well, I was wondering if there are any foreseeable problems with this swap. I know all of the mechanical fastening will go off without a hitch but I am more worried about electrical conflicts between alternators and what not. What about the AC compresor and power steering pump? Will these things bolt up to my old systems? Can I use any of my old accsesories with just new pullies installed? Are there any parts other than the obvious that I should get from the donor car? Any insite on these topics could save me tons of greif later.
thanks
thanks
I'm pretty sure everything will work except the water pump.

Haven't been to track with new motor
If you have any questions on converting from TBI to TPI email me at jdkchevy70@yahoo.com

...well the rj comes with it's own water pump already installed, which is a reverse rotation unit, so that's not a worry. I am more worried about the power steering and the AC systems already on my camaro working with the new respective accesories. Is there any one out there who has actually done this swap???

I have both setups here and i know the alternator and a/c pump wont work and im quite sure the power steering pump wont either, the alternator has a different plug and slightly different wiring, im selling my setup email me if you want at zracer28@hotmail.com

Can you elaborate more on why this swap won't go smothly. I don't expect this to be a bolt up type of operation, but I don't want to atempt this if it isn't worth trying.
I could take the alternator connector off of the donor car, and splice it into my current ignition harness if it has the same function as my old one, which I assume it does, I'll have to check some wiring diagrams. Any help here would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Oh it will go smoothly it did for me you can splice it right on from the donor car as long as you get the connector, just the acessories for the 85-87 setup are completely different, the a/c pump on the early one is longer and mounted on the drivers side as where the 88-92 setup is mounted on pass. side and is a short radial compressor, the alt. is also opposite sided and i believe the mounting holes on the ps pump are different, making it totally necessary to use the 88-92 acessories also.
