First V8 swap, need help!

Hey everyone, so i got down under my 84 T/A to replace a leaky pan gasket and saw that my motor(from down there) is totally wasted away.
I knew i bought the car with no idea of what the mileage was, but as i get deeper into this poor engine, the guy that owned it didnt deserve to own a car period! it clearly has NEVER had an oil change in the past 5-6years!
My heads are getting toasted, and over all the engine is just about done for its life.

So, I been searching high and low, and i cant find the direct answer.
What will it take, in detail, to swap from a computer controlled carb 305 to a full carb 350 with turbo 350tranny from a 79 camaro? same cross members? motor mounts? all thats the same or is there something else i really need to make it work?

I gotta get it figured out asap before this guy sells the running engine and good tranny to someone else, its only 90K miles (got T-boned before it could live) and its only $300!

Any help is MUCH appreciated, or a link to a post already up of this incase im repeating something someone asked already.

Re: First V8 swap, need help!

You'll need a different crossmember for the TH350 trans, as well as maybe a new tailshaft (this part I'm not sure on).

You can keep the carb setup from your 305, and just swap blocks. Or you can ditch the cc carb for a regular carb (check emission laws in your area). Regular aftermarket carb will require a non-cc HEI distributor with vacuum advance.

For mileage, it would be best to keep your 700R4 transmission, as it's a 4 speed (has overdrive) and the TH350 is a 3 speed.

There's tons of info in the carb forum, as well as in the transmission forum - you just have to use the feature - try things like TH350 crossmember and TH350 swap.
