I recently bought a car with this engine and was wondering if it was the same as the original LG4 or if there is also a "universal 305" engine like the 350 with different specs. The previous owner didn't know anything (he bought it that way) and I was just curious.

 

most likely it's a sort of universal engine, the short block more so than the long block. easiest thing to do is check the number on the block and go to www.mortec.com and see what you have
