how hard of a swap will it be? could i use my 2.8 computer? what things will i need to change? i have an 84 2.8 and i am buying an 84 305 as the donner car, will the engine go straight in?thanks.

 

It won't go "straight in", but if you're going to do it, getting the same year and a full donor car is the way to do it (are both the same model?). You'll be changing a bunch of stuff from one car to the other: engine, tranny, harness & all sensors, COMPUTER, springs, sway bar, front mounts, all hoses, front brake line, fuel lines, fan, radiator, cooler lines, a/c, accelerator cable, cruise cable, TV cable, tach, complete exhaust, vacuum lines.

If possible, have the two cars side-by-side. Take pictures of both before you take anything apart and while you disassemble. Label everything as you take it off both cars. Things you won't have to change are driveshaft, rear crossmember, torque arm, shifter (although you may have to do these if the tranny type is different), speedo cable.

But, when you get done, it'll look like the factory put it in there. If you have to pass emissions, it'll pass.
