Should I swap?
Hello,
I recently bought an 84 firebird for a parts car. Once I got it home I realized that its in better condition than the 89 I currently driving. However the guy i bought it from had started to restore it so i am going to finish that but was wondering if you guys think i should go with a 305 instead of the 2.8 thats in it. They are both carb. The 305 is currently in an 86 bonneville with less than 78,000 original miles on it and it drives like a dream. I dont really mind the gas mileage because I still have my 89 2.8 but I am wanting to make this one a little faster. What do you guys think?
Thanks, Michael

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
It's usually a good move (depending upon how much of a dream the Bonneville really is).
Be sure to read the V6 to V8 swap sticky in the top section of this forum before you decide.

Re: Should I swap?
Just keep it in mind because once you go 305 you will want to go bigger displacement and power are addicting and you can never get enough. the 2.8 are a good all around gas econ motor but parts are getting hard to find and they cost just as much as a v8 to keep up on. you already have a daily driver i say build it!
