vortec head help
. heres what happened, two of my pushrods broke through the ends of the rockers, i believe i know what i did wrong, i cut the guides down and installed new seals, installed z28 springs but i left the dampers in, i didnt realize they sat on top of the lower boss which is about 1/4" high. i believe that caused them to bind. does this sound correct? any help would be greatly appreciated

vortec head help
if i machined the guide bosses, but forgot to remove the Z28 spring dampers, which apparently sat on the 1/4" lip. could that have caused them to bind and crack two of my stock steel rockers? any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: vortec head help
I would say yes, it will cause the spring bind. If you leave the dampers out will you still have enough seat pressure?

Do it right and either cut the guides or install springs made for use over them like beehives.
