Block, head and ZZ4 cam questions

I am looking at the the following engine from www.goautocenter.com :

NEW 350 CID ENGINE CAST IRON HEADS, 1-PIECE REAR SEAL,1987+ INTAKE FACE, TUNE PORT ROLLER CAM
ENGINE FEATURES:

100% New engine, 350 CID, 2-bolt mains, V-8, 1-piece rear main seal, nodular iron crank, forged rods, 9.2:1 cast pistons, roller hydraulic cam, 1.94" intake valve, 1.50" exhaust valve, oil pump, oil pan, RH dip stick, valve covers, timing chain cover and harmonic balancer. NOTES: This engine is based on a 1993 motor with a roller hydraulic cam added. This cam works best with TPI 1987-89.

I want to add Sportman II heads and the ZZ4 cam as well. Does this sound like a good set up? I have a 305 TPI at the moment. Can i just change the chip to a 350 for the moment until i can burn my own proms.. or do i have to change the whole computer? With the 64cc heads and this engine.. is the CR a little low for a strong engine? (13 sec q/m) How can i bump it up a bit if need be.. can i deck the heads or look for a block with a higher CR? I will be upgrading the TPI with the usual toys when i do this. I would like around 300 HP when all is said and done.

Thanks Guys

If you plan on swapping the heads when you go to put it in you may just want to look for a short block (block, crank, rods, pistons, cam, pump, pan) and then add heads and swap the cam, you can get a head with a smaller chamber or have those milled later if you wanted.

Thats what i was considering, but they said they could add the cam, but the heads it comes with wouldn't like it (the lift) they said that for $2600 they would add world, edelbrock, and some other head. So basically they would sell me the setup i want, i was just making sure they are a matched set up. I am just unsure on the CR. By the way, are the Sportsmans' emission friendly?

They don't say much about the heads, but with a CR that low, they must be large chamber. You might want to call and ask.

The Sportmans carry CARB E.O. #D-343-1, so, yes, they're emissions friendly. Available in 72 or 64 cc chamber, straight or angle plug. The 64's might help compression a little. www.worldcastings.com , click on "Small Block Chevy" under "Seach By Engine".

Now with the 72cc chamber, i will get a higher CR right? I thought you would get a lower CR... whats the deal with that?

Larger chamber = lower compression ratio, all other things being equal.
